Ferret Hair Loss

Hair loss in Ferrets can be caused by a few things.
The first thing to check in a patch of missing hair, is if there are any cuts or soars. Ferrets, as most animals, will scratch and chew at cuts, and "wear down" the fur.

Ferrets also loose their "winter coat" in the spring. Their fur, sometimes, can change thickness throught the year. This will not usually cause patching bald spots. Patching bald spots could be the sign of a serious problem.

If your ferret has patching bald spots, and most of the hair loss is near on the tail or back of the ferret, this could be a symptom of adrenal disease.
